Last Friday our international students had to forget about diet because they gathered together to celebrate the brightest and the most entertaining of Russian holidays – Maslenitsa. For foreign visitors it was a lucky chance to get to know Russian culture better.
By tradition, we sat at a round table with samovar, listened to old Russian folk songs and ate lots of hot tasty pancakes.
The guests didn’t have time to get bored because our great teachers had prepared various activities: games, movies, a presentation about Maslenitsa and, of course, a roundelay with new friends from Australia, Columbia, Finland, France, Hungary, Netherlands, Slovakia and Sweden. Also our students learnt about “Lady Maslenitsa” and even tried to make their own one.
It was a good beginning of spring at Petrozavodsk State University, and we hope that our students will learn even more about Russian culture and traditional holidays!
