In February over 20 exchange and full-time students arrived to Petrozavodsk to study in PetrSU for a spring semester or a full year. They came from Finland, Czech Republic, Japan, Korea, Germany and Turkmenistan to study at the faculties of Law, Agriculture and Philology, in the Institute of Medicine and in the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences. Last week it was decided to gather all foreign students together to get them acquainted with each other and to learn about some Russian traditions as it was the Maslenitsa week here.
During the first adaptation weeks PetrSU volunteers helped the students to get acquainted with the University and its campuses, and the new system of timetable. They also met with the faculty coordinators, made a city tour and took first pictures of their impressions. Some of them had already visited the beautiful Onego lake embankment, walked down Petrozavodsk streets, went to cinema, theatre and cafes.
In total over 25 students from Finland, Czech Republic, Jordan, Japan, Korea, Turkmenistan and Russia came to the meeting. They told both in English and in Russian about their countries, about themselves, their hobbies and future plans. Most students emphasized that they like Karelia very much because of its northern beauty and weather. That was especially mentioned by the students from Jordan. Besides that the students like the beauty of Russian girls and openness of soul of Russian people. Czech Republic students shared positive impressions about their studies at the Faculty of Philology and about the new experience that they get.
The meeting was a success! Everybody agreed to continue communicating and gather again even without any occasion!
