On February 06, the international students of PetrSU along with PetrSU students and teaching staff, the city citizens and the representatives of the mass media, had a unique opportunity to meet a Russian cosmonaut Sergey Krikalev who came to Petrozavodsk for the first time on invitation of the Governor of the Republic of Karelia Aleksandr Khudilainen.
The Hero of the Soviet Union (USSR) and Hero of the Russian Federation, Sergey Krikalev has made six space flights and has spent more time in space than any other human: a total of 803 days.
The meeting aroused a great interest and everybody wanted to ask a question. Most of them concerned Sergey Krikalev’s profession, life on the space station, perspectives of the Russian cosmic industry and cooperation with other countries. One of the most impressive moments of the meeting was a direct call from the International Space Station when Russian cosmonauts Elena Serova, Anton Shkaplerov and Aleksandr Samokutyaev greeted the audience and wished good luck in studies to the students.
The meeting ended up with a group photo that everyone will save as a pleasant memory of that day. Some of our students even managed to take a personal photo with the Russian cosmonaut.
