Postgraduate student of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Control Processes of Saint Petersburg State University Nwohiri Anthony Metumaraibe (Nigeria) has defended his thesis in Engineering Sciences at PetrSU.
The research topic is “Development of Mathematical Methods of Research of Hyperlink Connections of Information Resources of Universities in Developing Countries (Evidence from Nigeria)”.
The research has been conducted at the Department of Technology of Programming of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Control Processes at Saint Petersburg State University. Academic advisor is Doctor of Engineering Sciences Andrey Pechnikov.
“The research has been conducted in such a relatively new area of computer sciences as webometrics, which studies quantative aspects of design and usage of information resources, structures and technologies for WorldWideWeb. The number of research works on webometric research of websites of universities in developing countries is very little”, - said Nwohiri Anthony Metumaraibe. He emphasized that the results of the research of websites of the Nigerian universities are of a certain value for government education bodies, universities administration, website managers and developers. Implementation of these recommendations will contribute to a better awareness of web resources of the universities of Nigeria and other countries by search engines and improve connectivity of university Web fragment of these countries.
“Thesis defense was successful. There were few remarks. The defense was not that hard despite the fact that it took place at a university unfamiliar to me. It is not important, what matters is the quality, content and gist of the paper. I plan to pursue science either in Nigeria or in the USA", - said the postgraduate after his thesis defense.
