The European Union Days

13The foreign students studying at PetrSU took part in the “The EU Days”. The event took place in the open air at “Urozero” camp site where the students, teachers and personnel of PetrSU got involved with interactive journey game “Map of Europe: Musical, Historical, Natural, Language and Cultural”.
The entire international close-knit group was divided into teams that thought up and told about their journey around Europe depending on specific goals: adventure holidays, architecture, music, history, culture, languages, etc. Everybody eagerly shared stories on places they would like to visit and events they would like to see and take part in. Due to such presentations a good many of people learned something new about the countries they had not yet visited and discovered new destinations.
After the game, a roundtable discussion on the topic “Higher Education in Europe and Russia. Personal Experience of Academic Mobility” was held. This topic was chosen deliberately as the year of 2014 was declared to be the EU-Russia Year of Science. During the discussion the participants had the opportunity to compare higher education in Europe and Russia, highlight the similarities and differences, as well as assess its quality in different countries. Many students talked about their own experience of studying in various countries.
In the spare time the participants played various games, and enjoyed the Russian banya. Personal contact in such an informal setting brought the students from different countries even closer together.
