On the 26th of April, 2014, the meeting of the French Language Workshop “Un Tour de France des Villes” took place in the framework of the 66th All-Russian Students and Young Scientists’ Conference with International Participation. The students presented the results of their research on the regional capital cities of France, their history and cultural and educational traditions in the French language. Our foreign students Clara Chazemartin (France) and Xavier Martel (Canada) participated in the workshop as the chairmen of the jury.
12 reports were made during the workshop. The main participants of the conference were the third-year students of the specialization “International Relations” who study the French language as the second foreign language. This year the professors of other educational institutions of Petrozavodsk as well as the students of PetrSU and the reporters’ friends visited the workshop.
The work of the French Language Workshop is the result of applying of the project technology which provides implementation of the competency building approach in the process of the foreign language learning. Besides, preparing for the conference allowed the students to realize their skills of working in cooperation and in the process of intercultural communication as well. The chairmen of the jury marked pithiness of the reports prepared by the students, the impressive and well-thought-out presentations and the skills of reporting in public.
The jury were unanimous to choose Elena Kuritsyina, fifth-year student of the German and the French Languages Department, who presented the report on Rouen, as a winner.
