Russian and French Evening

For two weeks the French lyceum students from La Rochelle were being introduced to the Russian way of life, were studying the Russian language and traditions. During two weeks they visited museums of the capital of the Republic, such as the National Museum of the Republic of Karelia, House of Dolls, Creative Center “Little Country”, took master classes on the Russian folk dances.
The last Russian and French friendship evening took place on April, 22 in the assembly hall of PetrSU. The French teachers and lyceum students gave a special performance. The students sang songs, danced, performed tricks. But the most inspiring for the spectators and the participants alike was the Russian folk dance. Teachers and students had rehearsed it under the guidance of the teacher of PetrSU, the head of folk dance ensemble “Karelian Souvenir” Galina Kagacheva. Jocelyne Compagnon, the teacher of the Lyceum of La Rochelle, formerly the language camp organizer, performed a song in Russian “I’ll Go out to the Field with the Horse”.
This cooperation has lasted for many years. Traditionally the lyceum students live in the families of our students. The Secondary General School No. 27 of the city of Petrozavodsk with enhanced education in French is always actively involved in delegation reception. Next year the students of PetrSU will go to the Lyceum of Jean Dautet on a return cultural and educational visit.
