The intensive courses organized for the students of PetrSU and the University of Oulu (Finland) on the topic “Comparative Approach in Research in the Field of Education” started at the Institute of Foreign Languages of Petrozavodsk State University.
Throughout the week the students got to know the main methodological approaches enabling to conduct comparative research in the education system, learned to work in the educational environment “Optima”, visited educational institutions of Petrozavodsk and spend their free time together. PetrSU students introduced their colleagues to the cultural life of the youth in our city. Theoretical and practical classes in the English language were given by the teachers of the University of Oulu, PetrSU, the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia (St. Petersburg).
During the first week the students divided into groups according to the chosen methodological approach, picked a subject and worked out a research plan. On the next stage, the future teachers and workers of the education system will be interviewing schoolchildren, processing material and drawing up joint research reports on chosen subject. This work will be carried out simultaneously in Petrozavodsk and Oulu in the form of remote network cooperation.
At the end of April a remote Internet workshop is planned to be held where the research groups will present the results of their research. The courses will conclude with awarding of the certificates on completing the courses equal to the amount of 5 ECTS.
Funding of the intensive courses is carried out by the Center of Academic Mobility of Finland (CIMO) in the framework of the FIRST program.
