The IT-park of PetrSU hosted a meeting with the representatives of the School of Forest Sciences of the University of Eastern Finland, held by the head of the School, Professor Timo Tokala. During the meeting the participants reached an agreement to start a new intensive course in the English language.
The course is starting on February 24, 2014 and will be lectured at the Faculty of Forest Engineering including both theoretical and practical parts. During the course professor Tokala will talk about existing approaches to monitoring of the condition of forest stands by the means of remote sensing of the Earth, space monitoring and aerial survey, about the special aspects of establishment of permanent sample plots. He will elaborate on the Finnish experience in solving such problems and will review main software programs used in this work.
