For the foreign students of PetrSU the autumn semester traditionally finishes a bit earlier than for the Russian students. As a rule they spend their Christmas and winter holidays at home in their countries. This year is not an exception.
The last meeting of the foreign students who were studying for the whole semester in the framework of the exchange programs at various faculties and students who has studied Russian in PetrSU was held on the 17th of December in a really Christmas atmosphere. Sitting by the festive table and listening to the Christmas songs the students shared their impressions about the time spent in Petrozavodsk and told about the traditions of Christmas and New Year celebration in their countries. An unusual surprise was prepared for them: a master class on making New Year decorations – paper snowflakes. As the students say they have never done anything like this before, so they had to demonstrate all their creativity. Everybody decided to take the results of their creative work home as a keepsake.
In the end of the meeting the students were given small presents. We hope that they will take home to Italy, Belgium, Finland and the USA not only the paper snowflakes but also new knowledge, pleasant impressions and a wish to come back to Petrozavodsk State University again.
