On Sunday the 5th of December a group of exchange students and the staff of the International Office of PetrSU headed to Kondopoga for a little “Fitness” excursion. The purpose of the trip was to do some ice skating in the sport center of Kondopoga. One hour trip to our destination went well and at least a part of exchange students were amazed about the beauty of the small town. Distance from the bus station to the sport center was a couple of kilometers and we decided to walk even it was pretty cold outside. However the warm atmosphere and beautiful town kept us warm.
Almost everyone of the group was skating first time after a long break or without much of experience so getting to the skates and to the ice rink were done with a little glimpse in our eyes. With few soft landings and numerous nearfalls, sliding on the ice brought the little children in us to the surface as we played through the fast rolling time. Even the Finns had to re-learn how to ice skate without playing hockey. For many this was first really physical activity since long, which contributed to the fresh feeling we got from it. The time passed fast and we finished our visit with a visit in a local restaurant enjoying dinner and good company. After the buss ride back to Petrozavodsk it was a safe bet that our group would sleep tight the following night.
