Mats Nyström came from the Swedish twin-city of Petrozavodsk called Umeå. In the future he is going to work there as an engineer in an enterprise which makes underground heating for houses. From September he has been taking intense advanced course of the Russian language in NEOU PetrSU, which he needs to expand the production of the enterprise he works on the Russian market.
Mats started learning the Russian language almost sixteen years ago. Although the language skills require permanent practical training, Mats keeps his Russian on the intermediate level with no difficulty owing to the fact that he spent half a year in Saint-Petersburg practicing it. He was also taught the Russian language in his home city by the teacher from Petrozavodsk who recommended him to visit our city. Mats chose Petrozavodsk as the place to continue his study for not being as congested as two Russian capitals and being one of the closest cities of the European part of Russia that provides such educational programmes. The city also did not seem to be as expensive as Moscow or Saint-Petersburg and proved to have a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. All these points made NEOU PetrSU the best place for Mats to carry on learning Russian. He thinks the advanced course of Russian is intense and useful and we are certain that the whole range of conditions will help Mats to acquire the necessary knowledge base of Russian and the experience he is going to possess will provide him not only the language skills but the new ideas for his work.
