The 2010 international students from Finland, Belgium, Sweden and China started acquaintance with the Russian culture from visiting the Karelian State Philharmonic last week (September, 23rd), where an extraordinary performance of the symphony orchestra took place. The students’ group listened to Piano Concerto accompanied by the orchestra of S.Zhukov and performed by the Symphony Orchestra and the pianist from Great Britain. The author of the concerto was also present at the event and went on the stage after the performance. The concert hall was full and there were many famous people among the audience, e. g. William Elliott, HM Consul General in Saint-Petersburg.
The music was exceptional and sometimes outrageous and all of the students listened to the concert with bated breath. After the show they shared their impressions with us. Students from the European countries regarded it as an interesting event, and the Chinese students, who attended the live symphony orchestra performance for the first time in their lives, called it delightful.
