This July in Petrozavodsk the temperature has rarely fallen below 30 degrees Celsius, as in the rest of Europe. Therefore the foreign students have tried to combine studying with walks by the Onego lake, relaxing on the beach and excursions outside the city. They have tanned in the sun and seen interesting tourist sites.
But of course, in spite of the hot weather, they have mainly spent their time studying Russian. During July around 30 students from European countries (Spain, Italy, Britain, Holland, France) and also from Australia and South-East Asia have been studying in groups and individually improving their knowledge of Russian or learning it from scratch. Eight teachers of Russian as a Foreign language have been working with them as well as lecturers of Russian history and Russian literature.
The Summer University will continue it’s work throughout August.
