International Students Day. Congratulations from the Rector of Petrozavodsk State University A.V.Voronin.
Anatoly VoroninDear students, I congratulate you all on the International Student’s Day!
This day is extremely important for the university because every year PetrSU accepts many international students who come here to study at different faculties in various academic fields, to improve their Russian language skills, to undertake their internship, to get acquainted with the Russian and Karelian culture and history.




PetrSU International Students (Clara)
ClaraClara Chaizemartin decided to come to Petrozavodsk State University more than a year ago when she was undertaking her internship at the University of Sheffield. One of the university professors recommended Clara to try our university as several students of the University of Sheffield had already studied at PetrSU and they were pretty satisfied with it.
Now the girl is attending the courses of Russian as a foreign language at PetrSU. The knowledge of the language is necessary for her to enter the Master course at Michel de Montaigne Bordeaux 3 University.




One day in a Karelian village
1On the 29th of October 14 foreign students of PetrSU spent a whole day in the Karelian village Kinerma. The students who came to Petrozavodsk from different countries to study the Russian language, culture and history were interested in getting acquainted with the local traditions and people more closely. Both close vicinity of the Russian and Karelian people and their common history make up a unique feature of our land.




Norwegian Students at PetrSU
1A delegation from a small town in the northern part of Norway came to Petrozavodsk shortly before the Olympic Torch Relay. These were the students from Pasvik Folk High School.
Our Norwegian guests visited PetrSU and met its international students. The meeting began with the exhibition of the famous Russian traveler and explorer Fedor Konyuhov’s photos.




To Embrace Russian Reality
 1PetrSU takes part in various international educational programs, and among them – Erasmus Mundus program aimed at academic mobility of students and teachers.




The National Cuisine Party
1On Friday evening, on the 4th of October, foreign students and PetrSU international services staff gathered together to hold “The National Cuisine Party”.
All the participants cooked and presented (in English and in Russian) various dishes of their national cuisine. Everyone could try soups, salads, hot courses, cakes, pies, biscuits, etc. from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Germany, Italy, France, the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Belgium, South Korea, Columbia and Costa Rica!




Online course with the Central European University (Hungary)
Online course PetrSU started the second online course regarding the project "Global E-school on Korean Studies" with the Central European University (Budapest, Hungary).




Gordon Daniel McQueres Story
Gordon Daniel McQuereGordon lives in Kansas (USA). He is a music theory professor at the Art and Science Department of Washburn University. He came to Petrozavodsk State University to take short-term courses of the Russian language to improve his informal speech skills.

international studentsA new academic year in PetrSU has begun for our international students, too. Students from Finland, South Korea, Belgium, Italy, Germany, France, the Great Britain, Sweden, the USA, Bulgaria, Syria, and the Ukraine have already arrived to the university.




The Apple Day in the Botanical Garden
The Apple DayThis Tuesday, 3 September, the Botanical Garden invited all executives of Petrozavodsk State University to apple-picking. Besides, our students from different countries such as Italy, France, Sweden and the Ukraine attended this event.
