To Study Russian is to Challenge Oneself (Mohammed)
MohammedPetrozavodsk State University welcomes foreign students from many countries of the world. Among them is Al-Nahdi Mohammed Res Farag who came to our university from Saudi Arabia and took a Master’s course at the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences. In two years he will get his Master degree.

Take the most sincere congratulations on the New Year! The passing year was rich in events that had a great impact on the life of our colleagues. We have what we can be proud of. The scientific conferences, forums, exhibitions, contests, festivals, meetings with the representatives of science, culture, governance and business were carried out at a high level and brought tangible results.




Christmas is Everywhere!
4That was a great Christmas Eve when the international and the Russian students and the staff of PetrSU gathered to celebrate upcoming Christmas in a friendly and warm atmosphere! Thanks to Anna’s from Belgium organizational efforts, the event went really well!




At the Students Theatre BEST
2On December 17, the Students’ Theatre “BEST” of PetrSU gathered the theatre amateurs in the events hall of PetrSU for a premiere of a music fairy tale “Destiny smile”.




Day of Russian-Arabic Friendship
7On December 18, the participants of the Pre-Foundation Program from Jordan and their instructor L.L. Chinenova visited Petrozavodsk Rautio Music College where they had a meeting with the college students.




Meeting at the FMS
3On December 17 the Directorate of the Federal Migration Service of the Republic of Karelia held a meeting for the international students of PetrSU and Petrozavodsk State Conservatory.




Learning more about Karelia
3The watching of the film “Karelia. A Bird’s Eye View” took place in the Foreign Languages Literature Section of PetrSU Scientific Library. Such an event was aimed at the international students and had a goal of their acquaintance with the history of the Republic of Karelia and its capital – the wonderful Petrozavodsk city. The students from the Czech Republic, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan were active guests at the meeting.




4In anticipation of Mother’s day the international students and PetrSU staff gathered in PetrSU creative laboratory for the lesson of wool-milling. During the first lesson the students got acquainted with the technology of wool moulding, working with felt and making the accessories of milled wool. The lesson resulted in breastpin flowers which can be an unusual and dear present for a mother.




National Cuisine Meeting
4At the end of November people from the USA celebrate Thanksgiving Day – a holiday that gives a start to Christmas and New Year celebrations. One of the traditions of that day is a dinner in a family circle. But the majority of PetrSU international students is staying at this time in Petrozavodsk learning the Russian language or studying at the university faculties and institutes.
